For the first time, everything happens too fast.

Too fast to catch.

The road slips past the window.

A conversation ends before its tone can settle in memory.

People appear in our lives and vanish, as if someone is editing the scenes of a film.

Memories.

We return to them through words.

Writing gives moments a second life.

A quieter life. A softer one.

Moments. Fleeting scenes.

The bus window framing a landscape that slowly disappears around a bend.

A message read twice on a phone.

Two cups of coffee lingering side by side a little too long.

Suddenly, we are there again.

The same road stretches ahead.

The same evening slowly darkens behind the window.

And that brief silence, when someone meant to speak but never did.

Short scenes. Moments that have slipped away.

A road that suddenly empties.

Hands resting lightly on a bridge railing.

Laughter hanging in the air for just a heartbeat longer.

And suddenly, we are there again.

The wind smells exactly the same.

The light falls at the same angle.

And for a fleeting moment, everything is exactly in place.

Writing is not merely storytelling.

It is a return.

A second breath of the very same moment.

Perhaps this is what Anaïs Nin meant when she said, “We write to taste life twice.”

To live only once is not always enough.

Sometimes, silence and a pen in hand allow us to return to what has passed,

to feel, even briefly, that life—truly—had flavor.
